This four (4) hour workshop presents techniques
for quilting on a domestic machine with the feed
dogs up (FDU) as opposed to free motion quilting.
It will include multiple straight stitch patterns,
gentle curved patterns, and decorative stitches
to enhance your quilting. Learn to evaluate what
is available on your own machine that works well
for FDU quilting. Learn how to do "near free
motion" quilting with your free dogs still up to
assist in stitch evenness. It is sutiable for
beginning to advanced intermediate quilters,
and includes lectures and demonstartions by
the instructor, interspersed with pratice sessions
for the students. The instructor will show some
of her own work and will discuss how the students
could enhance their FDU work with double needles,
a variety of thread weights and free motion
stitching. A discussion of fabrics, threads,
needles, batting, markers, and other tools
for FDU quilting will be included.
Students should arrive to the class with a
notebook,scissors, (or thread clips), a pencil
and a packed lunch.
Supply List : A required kit fee for the class is
$20 (cash/check only) will include a small
pre-marked quilt sandwich (approximately
20 X 20 inches, thread, a machine needle,
and instructional and informational handouts.
