Set your fear aside when you bring your machine to class, open the box and learn what your new "toy" can do for you. You will learn how to thread it, adjust stitch widths and lengths, use various presser feet and built-in stitches. There might even be some surprises that your manual doesn't tell you about.   2. Fabric Arts Wrkshp: I Machine Applique Technique

    This four (4) hour workshop presents several techniques for both turned-edge and muliple styles of stitched rae-edge machine applique appropriate for both beginners to advanced intermediate stitchers. The students will construct a small block suitable for making into a fun table mat,or small wall hanging. Additional embellishments can be added after the class. The class will consistof lectures and demonstrations by the instructor interspersed with students working on their projects. Supply List: The required kit fee for $25 (cash/check only) includes: All fabrics for the top, two kinds of threads,precut fusible shapes, two sewing machine needles, washable glue, a piece of stabilizer, a piece of freezer paper, and a piece of parchment paper.   3. Fabric Arts Wrkshp 2: Feed Dogs Up Quilting On A Domestic Machine

    This four (4) hour workshop presents techniques for quilting on a domestic machine with the feed dogs up (FDU) as opposed to free motion quilting. It will include multiple straight stitch patterns, gentle curved patterns, and decorative stitches to enhance your quilting. Learn to evaluate what is available on your own machine that works well for FDU quilting. Learn how to do "near free motion" quilting with your free dogs still up to assist in stitch evenness. It is sutiable for beginning to advanced intermediate quilters, and includes lectures and demonstartions by the instructor, interspersed with pratice sessions for the students. The instructor will show some of her own work and will discuss how the students could enhance their FDU work with double needles, a variety of thread weights and free motion stitching. A discussion of fabrics, threads, needles, batting, markers, and other tools for FDU quilting will be included. Students should arrive to the class with a notebook,scissors, (or thread clips), a pencil and a packed lunch.     Quilting using free motion stitching opens up a world of wonderful beauty and texture. This four hour workshop presents techniques and ideas for organic-style FMQ. Organic style quilting provide ways to finish your quilted project while adding interest and texture, but is not formal traditional quilting. It includes lectures and demonstrations by the instructor, interspered with practice sessions for the students. A discussion of fabrics, batting,markers,threads, needles, and other tools will be part of the class This class is suitable for beginning to intermediate quilters. By the time you have completed this workshop you will feel much more confortable with FMQ or, if you already are a free motion quilter, will have improved your work and ended up with a sweet little quilt just right for your cat or dog, or just to keep for reference, after you bind it, of course.
